Contact Improvisation for Beginners
Wednesday 18:00 – 20:00
11 classes from 2 April – 25 June
Course for beginners, for those who want to experience how to enjoy movement with perfect connection in physical contact. An opportunity to become acquainted with something completely new, to enter the world of movement and touch, to get new movement habits and to open the way to group of those who regularly dance in classes and jams. We look forward to all the newcomers, curious and open.
Contact Improvisation. A dance in which we can extend our horizons and give physical fulfillment to our imagination. Listening to each other in movement, freedom and perfect interplay. We observe how long it is needed to be in contact, of what quality must the contact be, so that our systems come together in one and our consciousness connects. We seek to get in touch and be fully in it so our nervous system can accept our partner as a part of ourselves. Through touch, we perceive each other, give support, lead and get led, we take the weight of another, or we transfer our weight to him, we fall and we mitigate the fall, we give the energy to take off and fly. Without effort, using physical laws, in which the body orients by itself over time.
Zita Pavlištová
She is one of the few teachers of contact improvisation in the Czech Republic. She touches the borders and loves the extremes. She passes on the art, the basis of which is listening to the body. She examines the body in movement and its connection with the mind. She likes long, quiet and conscious observation of internal changes, as well as speed, loss of control and risk – situations where you have to put unconditional trust into your body..
She founded Druna – a place for contact improvisation, dance and movement, and has been teaching it for 12 years, inviting contact improvisation teachers from all around the world, organizing jams, and teaching contact improvisation, new dance and improvisation herself. A community of open, courageous people who explore and reach the world through the body naturally creates around her. Zita teaches not only in Prague, but also in Spain, Germany, Poland and the Philippines. Every year, she holds international summer workshops in Orlice Mountains.
